BIOMECH DESIGNS LTD.The QMT System: How Does It Work?

2. Positioning Patient and Attaching Load Strap

The patient is positioned on the table. Various positions can be accommodated due to the versatility of the examination table. Typical testing would include muscle groups related to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle. Almost any other joint can be tested with proper stabilization of the body.

One end of the load strap is connected to the rigid frame and the other end connected to the body harness. The end connected to the frame can be located on any horizontal bar or vertical bar, depending on the joint being tested. The body harness fits snugly around the limb with a novel double strap design to ensure reliable placement and eliminate the harness from sliding up or down the limb. The length of the load strap is easily altered using a "cam" lock to correctly position the limb prior to the test (limb is usually vertical). The electric examination table can be moved up or down by the foot pedal to ensure that the load strap is at right angles to the limb (strap is usually horizontal).
